Candy Corn Frozen Treats for Dogs

I prepare frozen treats for my dog all the time, but they're not usually as adorable as these festive candy corns. This fall season, I thought I would try my luck at being the cool mom that brings to life the latest Pinterest project. I'm happy to report that my dog, Hope, has taste tested and approved my version of this dog-friendly Halloween treat. Check out my adaptation of Beagle and Bargain's recipe below and let me know what your pup thinks.

Candy Corn Frozen Treats

Yield: 29 3" treats


  • 18 oz Plain Yogurt

  • 15 oz Canned Pumpkin or Sweet Potato Purée

  • 2-3 Bananas or 23 oz Applesauce Unsweetened


  1. Layer 1 1/2c of Yogurt into base of trays. Fill 1/3 of each paw and bone.

  2. Freeze for 1-2 hours.

  3. Mix 1.5c Pumpkin Purée or Sweet Potato Purée with 1/4c of Yogurt.

  4. Spread into tray another 1/3 full. Freeze for 1-2 hours.

  5. Mix 2-3 Bananas or 1 1/2c Applesauce with 1/4c Yogurt.

  6. Spread into tray and fill to top. Freeze for 1-2 hours.

  7. Peel back molds. Serve cold.


  • I bought my silicone molds on Amazon for under $10.

  • Sweet potato puree is generally darker than pumpkin puree, so I opted for sweet potato. If using pumpkin, make sure it's puree not pie mix. For darker color, you can use more pumpkin and forgo mixing with yogurt.

  • I prefer to use Fage 0% fat Greek yogurt because it has less sugar than other brands. I added 1/8c water to Step 1 to thin it out a little.

  • If using applesauce, be sure to check the ingredient list. Use unsweetened sauce that consists of apples only.

  • For easy cleanup, fill quart size ziplock bags with ingredients of each layer. Cut a small corner off one side. Pipe ingredients neatly into trays.

  • To minimize dirty dishes, I mixed ingredients in the bags. For Step 3, I poured half the potato in, then yogurt, then remaining potato, and squeeze.

  • I added a pinch of Turmeric to Step 5 for color (added bonus that it's an anti-inflammatory!)

  • Use a baking tray under the silicone molds to keep them level in the freezer. Use any leftover ingredients to stuff a few Kongs.

  • Be patient! I pulled one tray out too early and two of the layers meshed together. If you have a turbo setting on your freezer, this is a good time to use it!

  • Enjoy in moderation. These are very sweet treats!
